EF Ultimate Break Oktoberfest Itinerary

While this trip is short, it is well worth it! There is a perfect combo of scheduled activities/group time and free time.

a tent full of people in Oktoberfest

If you can, extend your trip a bit to spend a few more days in Europe before or after Oktoberfest to make the long flight worth it, I would highly recommend it.

Day 1: Overnight flight to Germany

  • Overnight flight to Europe from North America

If you book your own flights, make sure you land on the right day, as EF’s itineraries have the flight days included. On this tour, you need to arrive on day 2!

Day 2: Land in Munich & Welcome Dinner

  • Land in Munich (MUC)
  • Free time (if your flight lands early enough)
  • Welcome dinner at Zum Brünnstein

Day 3: Tour of Munich and Oktoberfest!

  • Walking tour of Munich
  • Three hour table reservation at Schottenhamel
    • Includes two beer tickets and one food voucher
  • Free time

EF Oktoberfest Hotel

the holiday in express in munich germany

We only had one hotel for this trip, which was the Holiday Inn Express Munich City East. We stayed here for four nights.

Accommodations in the city during Oktoberfest are VERY expensive, so while it looked like this hotel was far from the city, I was actually really happy with this hotel.

The hotel was just a 10 minute walk from the train with three metro lines, a bus stop right out front, and it was easy to switch trains or buses to/from anywhere in the city at the East train station which was super close

There was also a good breakfast which was essential after drinking so much.

I booked a Plus trip, so we stayed in a hotel and everyone had one roommate. If you book the Essential version of this trip, you will stay in a hostel and have multiple roommates.

Food at Oktoberfest

The food at Oktoberfest (and in Munich in general) is the BESTTTTT. I love Bavarian food which is essentially just various meats and potatoes.

Eating in the tents at the fest can get a little pricey, but I found the stands to be very reasonably priced.

Vegetarians + vegans: Eating vegetarian at Oktoberfest isn’t hard if you love potatoes. Vegans might have a trickier time and will have to ask what ingredients are in the dishes.

Optional Add-ons

There is one optional activity that you can add on at checkout or before you depart at an additional cost:

  • Neuschwanstein Castle Tour: head to the Bavarian countryside to see one of the most famous castles in the world

This activity costs extra and you can book them when you book the trip, or add them on in your account after you book.

Oktoberfest Trip Types

Here are the options EF Ultimate offers for the Oktoberfest trip (descriptions from efultimatebreak.com):

  • Essential: Room with 3+ other travelers in conveniently located hostels. For social butterflies who thrive on meeting other people.
  • Plus: Stay with just one other person in 3- or 4-star hotels. Perfect for couples or anyone who enjoys recharging in their own space.

I took the Plus trip, where I had one roommate for the whole trip.

Overall Rating: 5/5

I cannot say enough good things about this trip! It was so much fun, the festival was even more fun than I ever imagined it would be, and we had the best tour director who really brought the energy.

If you want to see just how fun the trip was, I have two YouTube videos coming out SOON (end of October) all about Oktoberfest with EF Ultimate Break.
