One Day in Cesky Krumlov
If you only have one day in Cesky Krumlov, here’s the ultimate itinerary to help you see the best of this charming Czech town. You can also follow this for a Cesky Krumlov day trip itinerary.
Morning

Ready for your day in Cesky Krumlov? Start with breakfast at MLS Crêperie, a cozy spot serving sweet and savory crêpes, perfect for fueling up before exploring.
After breakfast, head to Cesky Krumlov Castle, the highlight of the town. Take the morning to walk through the castle courtyards and visit the Castle Tower for some of the best views in town. You’ll be able to admire the castle and the tower from the rest of the town later in the day.
From the castle, head to the Baroque Theatre, one of the world’s oldest preserved theaters. Tours and shows are limited, especially in the winter, so check the schedule in advance.
Lunch
For lunch, visit Papa’s Living Restaurant near the river. The restaurant has Czech dishes with great views of the Vltava River. Try the svíčková (beef with creamy sauce) or roasted duck for a traditional meal.
Afternoon

Next, spend your afternoon wandering the charming streets of the Old Town. Stop by Egon Schiele Art Centrum, a gallery featuring works by the famous Austrian painter and other contemporary artists.
Next, visit St. Vitus Church, a beautiful Gothic church that offers a quiet place to reflect and interesting architecture.
If you have extra time, spend it by the water walking along the river path or stopping at one of the many small cafes with outdoor seating.
Evening
For dinner, try Krcma v Satlavske Ulici, a medieval-style restaurant known for its grilled meats cooked over an open fire. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re back in the olden days, and the food is hearty.
To end your day, take an evening walk through the streets and admire the castle lit up at night.
Two Days in Cesky Krumlov
If you have two days in Cesky Krumlov, follow the above itinerary for Day 1, then continue with this plan for Day 2. If you can. I highly recommend a night or two in Cesky Krumlov so you can enjoy dinner in the town and enjoy it without all the day-trippers.
Morning

Start your second day with breakfast at Cafe Synagoga, a quiet spot located in a former synagogue. After breakfast, visit the Regional Museum to learn more about Cesky Krumlov’s history and culture.
From there, head to the Cloak Bridge, the multi-story bridge within the castle grounds that offer more fantastic photo opportunities.
Lunch

For lunch, grab a seat at Depo, a casual Czech restaurant, and one of my personal favorites, with hearty dishes and a relaxed beer garden atmosphere. It’s a great place to try traditional Czech food.
Afternoon

In the afternoon, visit Minorite Monastery, a peaceful complex with beautiful gardens, a small museum, and exhibits on the town’s religious history.
Next, head to the Latrán District, one of the oldest parts of Cesky Krumlov. The streets are filled with colorful houses, small shops, and cafes. It’s a great area to explore at your own pace.
You can also take the afternoon to wander on your own or ask the locals for recommendations. If you want to learn more about the history in Cesky Krumlov, try a walking tour.
Evening
For your final dinner, visit Restaurace Konvice, a cozy spot serving Czech specialties in a chill setting.
End your visit with a peaceful walk through the Old Town or along the river before heading back to your accommodation.

Tips For Traveling To Cesky Krumlov

Here are some tips to make the most of your time in Cesky Krumlov, whether you are there for a day trip, one night, or two days.
- Walking is the best way to get around since the town is small and most streets are pedestrian-only. Wear comfortable shoes for to the cobblestone streets.
- Bring cash, as many restaurants, cafes, and even some hotels may not accept cards. ATMs are available, but it’s best to have cash on hand.
- Book your visit to the Baroque Theatre in advance, as tours are limited and can fill up quickly.
- If you’re visiting in peak season, arrive early in the morning to explore popular spots before tour groups arrive.
- The Castle Tower offers some of the best views in town, so don’t skip it if you’re looking for a great photo opportunity. If you’re staying in town overnight, go right when the castle opens to beat the crowds.
- Many restaurants close earlier than expected, especially in the off-season, so plan your evening meals accordingly.
- Parking is limited in the town center, so if you’re driving, look for designated parking areas outside the Old Town.
- While summer is popular, visiting in the off-season offers a quieter experience with fewer crowds. I visited in December, and there weren’t many other tourists, hotel prices were low, and the Christmas market was a ton of fun.
- Consider staying overnight to enjoy the peaceful evening atmosphere once day visitors have left. Check out my guide to hostels in Cesky Krumlov if you are on a budget.
- English is widely spoken in tourist areas, but learning a few Czech phrases can be helpful and appreciated by locals.
