One of the essential parts of Hallstatt is the ferry, which takes people across the lake from the train station to town and back.
Taking a train is one of the easiest ways to get to Hallstatt, Austria.
The Hallstatt train station sits across the lake from Hallstatt, so without the ferry, it would be challenging to take the train into Hallstatt.
You can also take the ferry back to the train station right before a train arrives, any time of day. The ferry leaves town before every train, so you can be assured you will arrive at the station with plenty of time to spare.
How Often Is The Hallstatt Ferry?
The Hallstatt ferry runs in line with the train schedules.
So, whenever a train arrives or leaves the Hallstatt train station, a ferry takes people to and from the city center.
When you get off the train in Hallstatt, head down the path towards the water, and the next ferry should be leaving soon after.
And, if you are leaving Hallstatt on the train, you can catch the ferry in town that will get you back to the station before the train.
The schedule for the Hallstatt ferry is very strict, as they don’t want anyone to miss the train, so make sure you show up to the dock in advance so you don’t miss the boat to the train station.
