Seville is in the southern region of Andalusia, Spain. It is the most popular city in the region, and it is easily one of my two favorite cities in Spain. It has a historic charm, and there is something new to see around every corner. If you are looking to spend the perfect day in Seville, Spain, here are the things you must see!

Maria Luisa Park
Maria Luisa Park is a large public park formerly part of the Palace of San Telmo’s gardens. The park opened in 1914 and has over one hundred acres to explore. The park is full of monuments, gardens, fountains, and statues representing parts of Spanish history.
If you are looking to save money on your trip to Sevilla, entry to the park is free, and it is the perfect place to bring a picnic and enjoy the greenery.

Plaza de España
On the edge of Maria Luisa Park is The Plaza de España. The Plaza de España is precisely what it sounds like, a plaza. But it is not what you are picturing when you think of an ordinary plaza. The Plaza is a vast half-circle building with a big fountain, four bridges, and a canal.
The Plaza was built as a beautiful centerpiece for the World Fair in 1929, and it is still as beautiful today. You can rent boats to row around in the canal, and there are plenty of Instagram-worthy spots to take pictures.
Each of the four bridges in the plaza represents one of the ancient Spanish Kingdoms. There are also tiled alcoves around the plaza that represent the Spanish provinces.
The buildings in the plaza are government offices, but the outside is open to exploring. The plaza has also been used in various movies, the most popular being Star Wars: Episode II.

Royal Alcázar of Seville
The Royal Alcázar of Seville is my favorite place in Spain, without a doubt. The Christians built the castle for King Peter after they overtook Seville from the Muslims.
The Alcázar includes the castle itself and a massive amount of gardens to explore. At the entrance to the castle is a small courtyard with different entrances to the buildings and rooms. Since there are so many rooms to explore, you will want to grab a map to help you navigate. A map will also help you understand what each room’s purpose was, as well as the signs inside the room.
Outside of the castle are never-ending gardens filled will vibrant green plants, grand fountains, and winding paths. The gardens are beautiful but expansive, so you will want time to walk around. There is even a maze garden that is easy to get lost in, and next to the maze is an area with peacocks roaming freely.
You could spend hours here and keep finding new things. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Catedral de Sevilla
The Cathedral of Sevilla is the fourth largest church globally and the largest Gothic church in the world. Entry is not expensive, and there are discounts for students, kids, and seniors. If you go during peak times, you will likely have to wait in line to enter.
Inside the cathedral are eighty chapels, many of which hold multiple masses each day. The tomb of Christopher Columbus is inside the cathedral and the graves of former Spanish kings. In addition to the indoor cathedrals and features, there is an outdoor courtyard.
Also, a part of the cathedral is the Giralda Tower, a 35-floor tall bell tower. It will take a while to walk up all the ramps to the top, but the views of the city are worth it. There are openings on each side to see the city, and the bells are deafening when they ring.

Enjoy Spending the Day in Seville, Spain
Seville is a very walkable city, and the train station is centrally located if you arrive by train. These places are all close to each other to visit them in any order you want. There are also plenty of restaurants in the area for a food break.
Seeing these three places is the perfect way to spend a day in Seville, Spain. The Castle and the Cathedral will take a couple of hours each, and the Plaza is great for pictures and a boat ride. If you want to spend a weekend or longer here, there is plenty more to see and do!
